Quebec’s Current Issues

Secondary 4

In the new millennium, Canada and Quebec have faced very modern challenges and have needed to adapt to the changes brought on by innovations.

Women have continued the struggle that began in the previous century, now calling for equality in the workplace, seeking salary parity and equity.

Quebec has also had to adapt to a demographic problem: an aging population that has led to a growing need for workers. As a solution, the government has invested in family support and immigration, which has added great ethnocultural diversity to Quebec.

Rural areas in Quebec have also experienced population issues, as many residents have decided to move to cities.

The advent of new technologies has redefined the daily lives of Québécois. They use new methods to communicate with one another, as well as with the rest of the world.

Finally, Canada has gradually become an important player on the world stage.
