Many expressions in the English language contain the word heart. This makes sense given that the heart is not only a vital organ, but also the symbolic source of our emotions and feelings. While your child will inevitably come across many of these phrases over time, this simple game is a fun way to learn them together as a family! Will your child be able to learn these expressions by heart? Only one way to find out!
Suggested variation: If the game ends and there are still a few cards left in the pile, or if you get through all the cards before someone wins, try playing the French guessing game “La boulette” with the remaining expressions! In round one, each player draws a card at random and acts out the expression for the other players to guess. In round two, players draw a card and must try to describe the expression in only one word. And in round three, players draw a card and try to convey the expression in a funny pose. Feel free to set your own rules for each round!
